Monika Christmann, PhD

Monika Christmann earned a Bachelor of Science in Beverage Technology and a Master of Science in Oenology from the Justus-Liebig University. At the same University, she became a Doctor in Agricultural Sciences. For three years she worked as Quality Controller and R&D Manager for Sichel Winery (Alzey). In 1991, Prof. Dr. Christmann became Laboratory Director and Member of Winemaking Teams at SIMI Winery, Healdsburg (California). She has been Head of Department of Oenology and Wine Technology at the Geisenheim Research Institute since 1994, and became a German delegate to the Organisation Internationale de le Vigne et du Vin (OIV) in 1995, becoming President of the OIV Expert Group Wine Technology, President of the OIV Oenology Commission and subsequently OIV President 2009-2012 now remaining as OIV Honorary President and Qualified Personality.
